Harold Thrush

Obituary of Harold Derwood Thrush

Harold Derwood Thrush of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully on the morning of November 12, 2015 at 93 years young. Born April 27th…April 28th…and somehow on April 29th, 1922 in Brookville, Pennsylvania, Harold lived his life with a generous heart, a deep love for family, and genuine laughter for those lucky enough to have shared even a moment in his presence. Harold worked on the oil fields in Pennsylvania until he was inducted into the military on 25 November 1942. On the 9th of December 1942, Harold enlisted in the United States Army. He served in WWII with the esteemed 395th Infantry, 99th Division as a Tech Sergeant until he was honorably discharged on the 22nd of May 1946. Over the years, he would grow fond of crafting stained glass and the occasional round of golf. He continued on to raise his children with unwavering love while passing on the values of hard work, respect for others, responsibility for your actions, and the importance of family. Harold is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary; son, Dan and survived by his daughter, Becky (Bill) Shoun; his son, Bradley Thrush; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Harold Derwood Thrush will be remembered as a confidant to those lucky enough to call him a friend, a loving father and role model to his children, a beloved and respected Patriarch to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and a loyal and loving husband to his beautiful wife, Mary with whom he is now reunited. May you be always on our mind and forever in our hearts as your jokes remain on our tongues, your advice guides us tomorrow, and we cherish your love for eternity. Here is to you and Mary seeing each other again for the last time…like it's the first time. A Celebration of Harold's life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Las Margaritas Restaurant, 3602 E Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ.
