Mom was a Catholic. But I am thankful that she did not try very hard to brainwash and indoctrinate her children into the bronze-age mythology of her ancesters. She knew that we would each find our own path to happiness, with or without a belief in god(s). Now, most of us do not follow the restrictive dogma of organized religion, because we were free to explore and ask the big questions and make up our own minds about what is and is not true. Today, I am happy to say that I am a kind, moral, rational Secular Humanist/atheist/agnostic/ex-Catholic. It gives me comfort to remember mom, as the beautiful, awesome, loving, strong woman she was. My fondest memories of her, are just about her .... not her religion.
