Obituary of Donald James Tadych

Donald James Tadych went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2015. He was 87. Don was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1928 to Carl and Helen Tadych. In Milwaukee Don attended both Marquette High School and Marquette University. After deciding that studying journalism wasn't for him, he stopped matriculating at Marquette University in 1950. Soon afterwards he was drafted into the artillery of the US Army and served for two years in Darmstadt, West Germany. While on leave, to Belfast, Northern Ireland he met his Irish bride to be, the former Monica Rooney and married in February of 1953. In 1971 Don and Mona decided to move their family of four from Milwaukee to Tucson. Don had a 40+ year career as a newspaper pressman in both Wisconsin and Arizona, specializing in color printing. Don and Mona were married for 56 years until her passing in 2009. They owned and operated "The Woodstock" furniture store on the NE corner of Kolb and 22nd. He was well known as a kind, considerate and patient family man. Don was soft- spoken, a good listener that everybody loved. He had a passion for reading and classical music but more so for spending quality time with his children and his grandchildren: long walks in parks, kite flying, sledding, coloring and airplane model building. Don is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (her husband, George) Erickson; his son, Greg (his wife, Sue) and his three grandchildren, Danny Erickson, Brian Erickson and Claire Tadych. His older sister, Kathleen Sanderson lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A Service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N.
