Albertina Farino

Obituary of Albertina Jean Farino

Albertina Jean Farino passed away just shy of the age of 95. "Nonny" was born in Fano, Italy and immigrated with her mother and sister when she was a baby to Detroit, MI. They settled in Oakwood, an Italian neighborhood of Detroit where she met her husband of 58 years, Sam. Until 1985, they lived in Dearborn, MI where they raised two children, Robert and Nancy. After they retired from the family business, Bertha and Sam moved to Tucson, AZ. Nonny lived her life surrounded by many friends and family who loved her dearly. Our Nonny will always be remembered for her contagious smile, her open-mind, love for all and her generous spirit. Nonny lived for her family and a good meal. She passed her love of cooking and taking care of family to her "girls." Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Sam, her son Robert Farino and granddaughter, LeeAnn Farino. Nonny is survived by her daughter Nancy Varriale, son-in-law Stephen Varriale, granddaughters Lori Young (Michael) and Dena Varriale van Vliet (Christiaan), her great grandchildren: Cameron, Matthew and Ryan Young, Johannes van Vliet, Brittany Tatarski (Jacob) and Robert Schmidt and her great-great grandson, Tucker Tatarski. She will be greatly missed by her beloved dog, Lucky, who was by her side until the end. A celebration of life is planned for Labor Day weekend at the home she shared with her daughter Nancy in Oro Valley. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Kanmar Place, Casa de la Luz______.
