Obituary of Thomas Francis Moore
Thomas Francis Moore, Jr. 6/24/1946 - 6/3/2015 Tom was born in Tucson, Arizona to Thomas F. Moore, Sr. and Marie Morris Moore. Tom spent multiple summers taking the train to see his family in Louisiana, and often called it home away from home. Tom graduated from Tucson High School in 1964. Tom attended Northern Arizona University after graduation and decided to start his career by following in his father's footsteps at Southern Pacific Railroad. Tom hired out in February 1966 at the age of 19 and retired in March 2011 after an impressive 45 year career as a Conductor. Tom was a very active Union member and officer in U.T.U Local 807. Some of his accomplishments were Local Chairman, Vice Local, Secretary/Treasurer, Delegate to many U.T.U. conventions, Local Legislative Representative and Vice General Chairman. Tom was also elected as Arizona State Senator where he served two terms from 1974 - 1976. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie; his sisters, Linda Tank and Mary Rayner (Alan); his children, Alvis, Diane, Cheri (Tyson) and Tommy (Shelly); nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. (1800 railroad time) at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson, 85704.
