Obituary of Jane Poston

POSTON, Jane, A longtime Tucson resident died May 17, 2015 at the age of 91. Poston was an outstanding amateur artist, whose oil paintings and pottery enriched all her homes and those of her friends and relatives with southwestern color. Born October 4, 1923, in Philadelphia, Poston served as a WAVE in the Navy in World War II and became fascinated with airplanes. During a remarkable couple of decades she lived and worked around the world in places including Corpus Christi, Guam, Wiesbaden, Djakarta, Bali, Beirut, Tucson, Boston and St. Lucia before returning to Tucson permanently in 1977. Poston was married four times, most recently to retired Army Colonel Donald Hodges from 1985 until his death in 2001. Her interests and occupations ranged from teaching to writing to editing to small business to yoga, and during 1966, she produced the daily Janaki sign-off yoga television segments for WGBH in Boston. Poston's exceptional creativity and joie de vivre warmed everyone she met. She leaves behind a niece, Gwyned Trefethen of Appleton, WI, and a nephew, Nick Trefethen of Oxford, England.
