Obituary of Ray Sayre
Ray Sayre died at home on April 6, 2015. Ray was born in Dunbar, West Virginia in 1927, the son of James A. Sayre and the former Lucy Edington. His parents and his brother, James F. Sayre, predeceased him. He was married to Ethel LaVerne Sayre, who died in 2005. He is survived by his twin sister, Ruth Moore and many friends. Ray was a graduate of Indiana University and an Indiana University Foundation Member. He taught business at Connersville High School, Connersville, Indiana for 33 years. Ray was an Army veteran, serving in Italy following WWII. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, birdwatching, travel and astronomy. Ray was an avid supporter of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, Tohono Chul Park, the Audubon Society, the Center for Biological Diversity, the Sky Island Alliance, Native Seed Search, and the Nature Conservancy. Ray wished to be remembered as a man of many interests, a life long learner, avid reader and a man with a spirit of adventure. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
