Obituary of Donald John McFarlane MD
Donald John McFarlane, M.D. Born October 18, 1926, he went home to Jesus on March 26, 2015. Kathy, his eternal love and wife of 41 years, survives him. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Don attended John Carroll University and Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago. As a channel of the Holy Spirit, he healed many with his surgeon's hands, first in private practice in Dubuque, Iowa and later in Tucson. After he and Kathy moved to Tucson in 1972, he was chief attending in the TMC and UMC emergency departments, an adjunct professor of surgery at the University of Arizona, a surgeon in private practice at the Carondelet hospitals, and he treated many patients from the Tohono O'Odham Nation. After a brief "retirement," he worked with the wonderful physicians and staff at Arizona Radiation Oncology. He loved being a surgeon, he loved his patients, and above all he loved his family. He was predeceased by his child, Michael and is survived by his loving daughters, Amy (Mark Miller), Kathleen (Eddie) Zwirko and Molly (Mike) Dalton; his loving sons, Stephen (Sheila), Kevin (Connie), Jeffrey (Beth) and Peter (Jane) and eight wonderful granddaughters. A Memorial Service will be held at Catalina Foothills Church on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Interfaith Community Services or to the Gideons International. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel
