Obituary of Ray L Plumlee
Ray L. Plumlee died February 14, 2015, following an extensive surgery. Ray was born May 28, 1926, in Joplin, MO, to Willis and Neoma Plumlee. He served in the Navy in WWII, taking part in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He graduated from the University of the Pacific then entered the ministry, receiving his Masters of Divinity from Berkeley Baptist Seminary. He served Methodist churches in California, then United Church of Christ congregations in Arizona: the Church at Litchfield Park for ten years, then Casas Adobes Congregational Church in Tucson for nine years. After his retirement he was involved with starting new congregations in Green Valley, AZ, Kalispell, MT, and Oro Valley, AZ. Ray was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip and Jimmy; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Margaret "Peggy" and four grandchildren, as well as Peggy's three sons, Gregory Folger (Meredith), Mark Folger (Anne) and Douglas Folger (Tricia) and their combined 14 children. Ray was a 32nd Degree Mason and received Rotary's Paul Harris Award. The family requests memorials to Casas Adobes Congregational Church, UCC, 6801 N. Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Casas Adobes Congregational Church, UCC. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
