Obituary of Carolyn Nelson

Carolyn Nelson 1919 - 2015 Carolyn Nelson passed from us on Sunday, January 25, 2015. Her friends and family will miss her as a woman of graciousness, courage, loyalty and charitable nature. Carolyn was a lifelong, active member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority as well as PEO and other charitable organizations. Her greatest joys included music, being an accomplished pianist, and travel. She graduated from Kansas State University, where she met her husband of 67 years, F. Eugene Nelson. They were married in 1940 and brought their family to Tucson from Ames, Iowa in 1960. After raising three sons, she returned to the University of Arizona where she earned a Masters Degree in Library Science and then became a librarian at Sunnyside High School. She is survived by her three sons, William Nelson of Los Angeles, California, Dr. Craig (Barbara) Nelson of Tucson, Arizona and Dr. Bruce (Sheryl) Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona. She was a proud and exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family asks that any donations be made to the P.E.O.
