Obituary of Barbara Jane Hurt

Barbara Jane Hurt 59, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away at Northwest Medical Center on December 29, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Alyson (Rob), Ryan (Lindsay), Ashley and Ross; her mother, Helen Lyne and her sister, Linda Beardsley (Paul). She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Lyne. Barbara was born in 1955 in Great Falls, Mont. She grew up in an Air Force family, spending time in Germany, Texas and New Jersey before settling in Wedgefield, S.C. She earned an associate's degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina and became a labor and delivery nurse. Barbara married Roger, an Air Force pilot, in 1977, and they travelled the world with their growing family. She was a devoted mother, teacher, partner and confidante. And she had a way of making each of her children feel like her favorite. In 2000, She returned to nursing at University Medical Center, helping mothers bring their babies into the world. She was a trusted mentor and friend to her colleagues. She enjoyed arts, wine, cooking with friends, board and card games and backyard gardening. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Odilia Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to theAmerican Cancer Society .
