Obituary of Robert Dugald McClure
Colonel Robert Dugald McClure Tucson - Col. Robert Dugald McClure, USMA June '43, born November 9, 1920, son of MG Robert Alexis and Marjorie Leitch McClure, passed September 12, 2014 of natural causes. Bob is survived by wife, Elizabeth Ann and children, Marjorie Dial, Melody DelParte, and Robert Douglas. He was predeceased by younger son, James. He has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His 30 year Air Force career included: A World War II combat fighter pilot Pacific theater flying P-38, P-40, and P-51s aircraft; Eisenhower's "Open Skies" UN exhibit Program Manager; First Atlas ICBM wing Chief of Maintenance during the Cuban missile crisis, inventor of the JOTS program; DM 1st Strategic Aerospace Division Vandenberg AFB until retirement in 1972 then Chief of Lockheed Logistics in Iran. Colonel McClure lived West Point's ideals Duty, Honor, Country. "Well Done! Be thou at peace". Burial is at the Fort Huachuca Old Post Cemetery 100 Burt Road, Fort Huachuca 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
