Obituary of Johnston Knox Corbett
Johnston Knox Corbett, III passed away on September 3, 2014 with his loving wife by his side. Johnston, 72, was born on December 27, 1941 in Tucson to Jaqueline Ames Corbett and Johnston Knox Corbett II and was the grandson of Hiram Corbett and great-great-grandson of Samuel Hughes. Johnston served with distinction in Viet Nam, serving with the 5th Special Forces and was proud of his time in the Green Berets. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sara Virginia Corbett; son, Johnston Knox Corbett IV; daughter, Caroline Grace Corbett Garr; son-in-law, Randy Garr; sister, Michelle Corbett Kimble; brother-in-law, William Kimble; nephew, Wesley Kimble and great-aunt, Ruth Corbett Cross. The light of his life and his greatest joy were his four grandchildren, Hiram Corbett II, Samantha Garr, Aubrey Garr and Payton Garr. Those who knew him will remember a friendly and kind man who had a wonderful sense of humor with a quick wit and a love of family. We are blessed that he has joined his friends and brothers, Doctor John R. Hazel and Doctor Ronald Vineyard in heaven. ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge are handling the arrangements for the family 326-4343. A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cyril of Alexandria church located at 4725 E. Pima Street. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Johnston's name.
