Obituary of William D. Sellers
Dr. William D. Sellers of Tucson, passed away on August 27, 2014. He was born on August 18, 1928, in Culver City, California. Bill spent his childhood in California and had many adventures with his twin brother, Jack and older brother, Bob. He received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and earned both a master's and doctorate degree in Meteorology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bill retired Professor Emeritus after 40 years with the University of Arizona in the Atmospheric Sciences Department. In 1965, Bill published the book "Physical Climatology," which was used across the country as a textbook for many years. Bill married Peggy on August 31, 1962, in Tucson, where they lived their whole lives together. His hobbies included running, camping with his family, walking his dogs, watching Jeopardy!, and volunteering at the Humane Society. Bill is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Ogle (John) and son, Ken Sellers, of Tucson; son, Tim Sellers (Elena) of Washington; daughter, Patti Althen (John) of California and twin brother, Jack Sellers (Felicia) of Nevada. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Chris, Ashley, Greg, Roxanna, Jacob and Ryan and one great-granddaughter, Rio. Bill will be missed for his kind spirit and unique sense of humor.
