Obituary of Adelaide Verron Hume
Adelaide Verron Hume 7/14/1924 - 6/23/2014 Adelaide passed away three weeks before her 90th birthday. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved with her family to Franklin Square, NY, graduating from Sewanhaka High School, where she met her future husband, Leonard Hume. They were married in 1945, traveled on their honeymoon to settle in Tucson, and truly loved it here. Adelaide was known as an award-winning seamstress, a member of Homemakers of America, and for her work for the Democratic Party as precinct committeewoman. She worked for 20 years for TUSD and enjoyed eight years of dancing in her 70's with "The Hot Flashes" dance group. Adelaide was a strong woman, who enjoyed entertaining, travel, and tending her garden and patio. She was a supporter of the performing arts in Tucson, especially Invisible Theatre and Tucson Opera. Adelaide leaves daughters, Kate Hutto, Krista Gray, Laurie VanBuskirk and Lisa Means, and their families. She felt so fortunate to have 15 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Services will be private.
