Obituary of Vivian Elaine Cox
Vivian Elaine Cox 80, passed away June 17, 2014 at Casa de la Luz Hospice after complications from a long illness. She is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Olemuel Cox, Sr. and her brothers, Malachi and Samuel Lewis, Jr. She is survived by her children, Debra Cox-Howard (Guy), Olemuel Cox, Jr. (Susan) and Kimberly Cox; her grandchildren, Carolyn Dunlap and Madisen Cox; her sister, Alma Lewis; her niece, Flora Brown and her great-niece, Valerie Brown-Klingelhoefer (Andrew). Dr. Cox was a retired professor emeritus from the University of Arizona, in Teaching and Teacher Education at the College of Education for 31 years. In addition, she served as President of the Faculty Senate from 1990-1993. Recently, she was an active participant on the Advisory Board for the Invisible Theater, and became an accomplished fine artist in watercolor and acrylics. Memorial Services to Celebrate the Life of Dr. Vivian Cox will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests your support in honor of Vivian to the causes that she was most passionate about-The Arts: The Invisible Theater; Those in Need: Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona; Education: Tucson Community School and Humanitarian: Humane Borders. As Vivian loved color, and this is a celebration of her life, her family is encouraging those in attendance to wear something colorful in her honor.
