Obituary of William Griffin
William Griffin (Mickey), 91 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 2, 2014. He was a B-17 pilot in WWII who was shot down and severely injured on his 33rd mission and became a POW for eight months. He received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon his return to the U.S., he became an architect and worked on many commercial and civic buildings in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Kate Griffin and Christine (Steve) Ball; stepdaughter, Marion (Rick) Rogers; grandchildren, Laura Gray, Patrick (Leslie) Kaye, Stephen Kaye, Kirsten Ball, Tyler Rogers and Jenna Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Lacy, Indigo, Heidi and Daphne. Mickey always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He was loved and will be missed by many. There will be a celebration of his life later this year.
