Obituary of Norma Eileen Watson
Norma Eileen Watson passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at First Christian Church, 740 East Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Amos Smith. A native Tucsonan, Norma Watson was born on January 26, 1942, to Deanna and Isaiah Harrison. Norma graduated from Tucson High School and earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Arizona. She was a teacher in the Tucson area for over 40 years in the Tucson Unified School District and the Sunnyside School District. Norma was a founding member of the Church of the Painted Hills, as well as a member of various social and professional organizations. Norma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Theodore Watson, Jr.; daughters, Tracy Watson and Terri Watson-Johnson (and her husband, Brian Johnson); grandson, Brian (BJ) Johnson; and granddaughters, Mia and Melanie Johnson; sister, Alec Douglas; nieces, Kelly Salter Ortiz (and her husband, William Ortiz) and Kimberly Dawn Salter; and nephew, Kristian Salter; brother-in-law, Rubin Salter, Jr.; and grandnephews, Rubin, Roman, Rhys and William Ortiz. She was preceded in death by her mother, Deanna Harrison; her father, Isaiah Harrison; and sister, Rosetta (Dea) Salter. A Viewing will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson, AZ, on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to The Dunbar Project/Dunbar Coalition, P.O. Box 86132, Tucson, Arizona 85754- 6132.
