Obituary of Albert Edward Seames

Albert Edward Seames Al Seames, aged 84, of Tucson, AZ, left us to be with his Savior on March 14, 2014. Al was born February 12, 1930, as the second son of Louis and Edith Seames in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Public School No. 48 and the Buffalo Technical High School. After two years working for the Buffalo Vacuum Company, he attended the University of Buffalo, where he graduated top of his class with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He then received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. In 1958 he came to Tucson, AZ, as an Assistant Professor and doctoral student. Al then joined the Hughes Aircraft Company (later to become Raytheon), where he worked for over 28 years in a variety of engineering-related positions. He retired in 1987. His hobbies included collecting lead figurines and Lionel toy trains. He became interested in genealogy and volunteered many hours at both the Southeast and Northwest family history centers, helping others to research their roots. He was active in several churches in Tucson including Fountain of Life (LCMS), American Lutheran (ALC/ELCA), the Church of the Painted Hills (UCC), and Sanctuary (United Methodist). Al is preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Ann, and is survived by his beautiful wife, Doris, who has been his favorite companion for the last 29 years, and his brother, Louis of Fredonia, NY. He is also survived by four children, Warren (Dolores) of Lake Forest, CA, Leslie (John) of Tucson, Wayne (Janet) of Grand Forks, ND, and Ed (Vickie) of Rock Hill, SC; three stepchildren, Robert (Lorrie) Preston of Mechanicsburg, PA, Raymond Preston of South Otselic, NY, and Janice Haines (Robert) of Aurora, CO; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Sanctuary United Methodist Church, 7620 N. Hartman Lane, Tucson, AZ 85743, 520-207-6453.
