Obituary of Dolly Bontekoe Sneep

Dolly Bontekoe Sneep passed away peacefully Monday, September 16, 2013, and is now reunited with her adoring husband, Adrianus "Ed". Dolly was born October 12, 1937, to Christiaan and Clementine Bontekoe, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 1955, her family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, where Dolly worked as a Governess and learned to speak English. It was in Canada where she met her future husband, Adrianus Sneep. The two were married in 1958 and soon moved to the California Bay Area. Dolly and Ed welcomed their first son, Gregory Edward, April 15, 1963, and their second son, Rodney John, March 19, 1965. Dolly loved everything about being a homemaker and mother to her sons. She was also an excellent cook and baker, whose bitterballen, flensjes and speculaas were legendary! In 1993, Dolly and Ed retired to Oro Valley, where they met yet another wonderful, large group of friends. Dolly enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors in her Rancho Vistoso neighborhood. In addition to the move to Arizona in 1993, Dolly also became an "Oma" to her only grandchild, Sophia Grace. Dolly loved being an Oma and treasured her time with Sophia. Dolly is survived by her two sons, Gregory (Britta) Sneep of Tucson and Rodney (Sylvia) and Sophia Sneep of San Diego. She is also survived by her two sisters, Renee (Nicolo) Parmegiani and Margot (Alan) Parenti; brother-in-law, Johan (Corrie) Sneep; and sister-in-law, Johanna Sneep. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and The Netherlands. Her family wishes to thank her many friends in Oro Valley for their enormous support and love during her illness. Special thanks to her dear friend Joan Allison and her nurse Ann with Casa de la Luz Hospice. We are forever grateful for your kindness and compassion.
